Mother Nature’s Best Kept Secret

Belize is an ideal destination for people who want to dip their toes into Central American culture without fear of being misunderstood.

Tucked between Mexico and Guatemala, English-speaking Belize is about the same size as Massachusetts and Wales. But this tiny country boasts five ecosystems – savanna, jungle, river, ocean and mangrove – making it the capital of ecotourism in Central America.

The breathtaking scenery in Belize will be a memorable backdrop to river tubing through a series of caves, hiking through thick tropical forests to hidden Mayan ruins or climbing to the heights of the Maya Mountains, all while keeping an eye open for spectacular birds and an amazing array of wildlife.

Water lovers will easily find their bliss offshore, where the warm, turquoise water laps at the countless cayes and islands. And the country is home to the second-largest barrier reef in the world, underwater caves and the famous cobalt blue chute, the Blue Hole.

Belize’s Afro-Caribbean roots have created a fabulous laid-back atmosphere where life moves at a slow pace in Belize, even by Central American standards. Whether you want to have a relaxing vacation or explore, add Belize to your travel plans.

Best time to go: January – May is dry season, but the best time to visit Belize is usually between January and March, when it’s not (quite) as hot or humid. This is Belize’s peak tourist season though, so prices tend to be higher.
